Yes, unfortunately many people that identify themselves as Christians are hypocrites. They may go to church on Sunday and then lie, cheat, and steal on Monday. Those who truly walk with Christ don't act like this. A true Christian wants his behavior to be pleasing to god, not to use God's grace as an insurance policy while living a sinful life. This is what righteousness is. It just means having a right relationship, or being right with, God. Righteousness is just thinking and behaving, to the best of your ability, in odedience to God's word. is not the same thing as holiness. I think the two are often confused.
